Graham Burgess

I am a second-year Ph.D. student in the linguistics department at the University of Georgia. My areas of research are syntax & semantics and historical linguistics—I am particularly interested in event semantics and the historical relationships between and evolution of tense, aspect, mood, and telicity.

I received my B.A. in English with a concentration in linguistics with a double minor in psychology and writing, rhetoric, & professional communication from North Carolina State University in spring 2022 and began my Ph.D. in linguistics at the University of Georgia in the fall of the same year.

I am also an instructor for first-year writing with the English department, where my focus is teaching students how to write like academics.
