M.A. Graduate

Julia graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Spring 2021 with a B.A. in Spanish. She has also received a certification in TESOL and began her work translating poetry from Spanish to English as an undergraduate. Julia was a FLAS Fellow for the 2021-2022 Academic Year and studied Quechua as a third language. Her current research in cross-cultural pragmatics focuses on English-Spanish translation of pragmatic meaning in TV sitcom subtitles. 

Julia graduated from the M.A. Linguistics program in Spring 2023. Her committee members were Dr. Sarah Blackwell (major professor), Dr. Ruth Harman, and Dr. Chad Howe. She is currently a Software Engineering Fellow at Springboard and a freelance editor.
