Mayee (they/them/他) obtained a B.S. in Applied Psychology with Honors in Linguistics from New York University, where they studied variations of singular they interpretations. As an M.A. student, Mayee hopes to further develop their research, integrating pragmatics, syntax, and anthropological methods to enrich their work; as an homage to their heritage, they look forward to exploring how language proficiency and immigrant generation influences word choice in both Mandarin and English. Currently, their thesis concerns the language practices of women in Asian-American interest sororities.
