UGA will host an intensive Eye Tracking Research Academy from September 18-23, 2018, sponsored by the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, and instructed by a world-renowned eye tracking expert, Dr. Kenneth Holmqvist (Regensburg University, Germany).

Dr. Kenneth Holmqvist is a professor at North-West University, South Africa, at the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic and a guest professor at Regensburg University, Germany. Dr. Holmqvist is an internationally recognized expert in eye-tracking-based research, with his various investigations of eye movements stretching from reading research and scene perception to advertisement studies, gesture recognition in face-to-face interaction, and eye movements of dogs. Dr. Holmqvist’s scholarship encompasses philosophical work, such as a co-authored manuscript on conceptualizations of the experience of the sublime as well as highly applied work investigating decision making in supermarkets and research on safety in car driving and air traffic control. Dr. Holmqvist is the lead author of one of the most authoritative and extensive guides to eye movements research "Eye Tracking: a comprehensive guide to methods and measures", published in 2015 by the Oxford University Press in its second edition. Dr. Holmqvist founded the Eye Tracking Laboratory at the Humanities Research Lab at Lund University, Sweden in 1995 and has since extended the laboratory to incorporate almost 50 eye-trackers and a multitude of projects. In 2006, he founded the Scandinavian Conference on Applied Eye Tracking, and in 2008, he launched the internationally renowned “LETA” (Lund Eye Tracking Academy) training courses in eye-tracking methodology which have since attracted more than 650 scholars from around the world and which he will offer to the University of Georgia researchers during his visit from September 18-September 23, 2018 during his Willson Center Distinguished Lecturer Visit.
