Graduate Student Graduate Teaching Assistant - LING2100 & LLED7732 Sara Epps is here as a Graduate Teaching Assistant instructing 'Study of Language' (LING2100) as well as acting as the TA for 'Discourse Analysis' (LLED7732) with her major professor Dr. Ruth Harman. Her research focuses on discourse analysis and pragmatics, particularly as they relate to digital media, film, and humor. She is currently working on a study which looks to determine what contextualization cues work to trigger audience laughter during viewings of SNL skits, and also hopes to work with 'queercoding' in media in the near future. As the Vice President of the Linguistics Society of UGA, she also works in the planning of graduate events and department merchandise (if you've seen a cool Gilbert sweatshirt out and about, that was her!). Sara received her undergraduate degree in Linguistics from the University of Florida in Spring of 2020, completing it with Cum Laude honors and three consecutive semesters of President's Honor Roll. She was a proud member of the Disability Resource Center throughout her undergraduate career and has continued as a member of the DRC at UGA. If you need to reach her, feel free to email her at sara.epps@uga.edu!
